Most importantly, make sure the dentist seems to be looking out for your best interests. During the exam portion of your visits, a good dentist will evaluate your teeth, gums, and screen for other conditions such as oral cancer. The earlier an issue with your oral health is caught, the better the prognosis for treatment will be.
